Meet the trainers of Woodstock Ranch

Woodstock Ranch is home to Nell Tekampe Performance Horses. Nell Tekampe is a World Champion rider, trainer, and coach. Nell has been training horses professionally for over 20 years. She has experience training and showing in a variety of disciplines including western pleasure, hunter under saddle, pleasure driving, trail, showmanship and equitation, western riding, and western dressage. She has trained and coached over 50 world, reserve world, and congress champions and the number one youths in the nation.  Nell has shown a variety of breeds. She specializes in stock horses, particularly paints, but enjoys working with all types and breeds.

Nell heads up the western show team, western dressage team, and Woodstock Ranchers drill team. She enjoys teaching lessons to every level of rider from beginner to advanced and believes that riding horses is a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime because the more you learn, the more there is to learn.

As a trainer, Nell has had an opportunity to work with hundreds of horses from starting colts to finished horses. The variety or horses, and the amount of experience she has gained over the years is key to her ability to evaluate the horses mindset and natural ability.  She is a horseman who can troubleshoot problems the horse or rider may have. She believes that consistency is key in training and although she uses standard methods, no two people or horses are exactly the same. Horses (nor people) can be stuffed into the same mold and expected to learn the same way or at the same rate. When you take the time to understand the horse’s personality, history, and ability then you can tailor your program to the needs of that individual horse and produce a mentally sound and physically healthy horse. That horse can go on to win a world championship or keep his owner safe riding down the trail for years to come. When you put the time and effort in, you get quality and longevity out.

Woodstock Ranch is always open so feel welcome to stop in and take a look around, watch a lesson, or watch the trainers working the horses and observe first hand what Woodstock Ranch has to offer.
